The Mayflower Docks
After spending more than two months on the ship, the Standish family, along with the rest of the Pilgrims, set foot on the ground. The passengers named this new place Plymouth, the same name of the small town they had left in England. Their new home was filled with all kinds of trees, bushes, and rocks.
Myles spotted a natural spring just a few yards away where the travelers could get fresh water.
Louie and Connie hid behind two large rocks as they watched and listened to wild animals scurry about the forest. The Pilgrims could hear
these strange creatures’ cries and howls, too, and feared they would be attacked.
Hungry and frightened, the men took their muskets and roamed the forest, hunting for food.
Meanwhile, Louie and Connie searched the area for mice and rats and other creatures that they could eat.
The two cats also helped Myles and the other men in the community build log cabins. They carried sma

ll pales of water in carts that Myles had built for them. Both helped Myles make a thick mud with the water, pouring it on the dirt and stomping on it, so Myles could place the mud between the logs to hold them in place.
Louie came up with an idea and asked Connie to gather all of the cats in Plymouth to come to a meeting that night. He walked around the circle of cats and shook paws with them.
“Ok, all of you, I have written a list of rules for the cats to assist our owners with alerting the town if wolves come here from the forest.
