On the Mayflower
Louie and Connie boarded the Mayflower, stumbling over the wooden stairway. Myles and Rose picked each of them up to get the two cats safely aboard. Louie was shaking and tried to hide his fear so no one would notice.
Several men greeted Myles once he got on the ship. They knew he was an important man to the settlers, who called themselves Pilgrims As a military advisor to them, Myles was expected to keep all of the people on the ship safe, including Rose and their cats.
The family walked into their tiny cabin. Myles, Rose, and Connie laughed and smiled when they talked about America. They were so thrilled to start a new life. However, Louie was very unhappy. Rose put Louie on the bed, and he began howling, begging to go home.
